The principle of isolation transformer and the use method of isolation transformer

The principle of isolation transformer

The principle of the isolation transformer is the same as that of the ordinary transformer. Both use the principle of electromagnetic induction. The isolation transformer generally refers to a 1:1 transformer. Since the secondary is not connected to the ground, there is no connection between any secondary wire and the ground. Potential difference, safe to use, often used as a maintenance power supply. Isolation transformers are not all 1:1 transformers. The power supplies of control transformers and tube equipment are also isolation transformers. Power supplies such as tube amplifiers, tube radios and oscilloscopes and lathe control transformers are all isolation transformers.

Isolation transformer isolation means that the primary and secondary windings of the transformer are electrically insulated, and there is no connection between them. The primary and secondary windings are isolated by insulating paper or insulating strips. The isolation of the transformer is to isolate the primary and secondary windings. There are many kinds of isolation transformers for their respective currents. For low-voltage common isolation transformers, insulating paint is applied on the outside of the metal winding coil, and then the primary and secondary winding coils are wound on the same core to form a transformer.

The isolation transformer has the function of isolating the distributed system. A step-down transformer is usually used to reduce the incoming line voltage. Any isolation transformer used for the controller must have enough power to be competent for its load. The power rating is usually expressed in volt-ampere VA.

Isolation transformers have the advantages of electrical isolation, moisture-proof, lightning protection, safety, purification of power supply, elimination of third harmonics and suppression of common mode interference, energy saving and convenient maintenance. They are widely used in subways, high-rise buildings, airports, stations, terminals. , industrial and mining enterprises, transmission and distribution of tunnels and the use of imported equipment.

How to use an isolation transformer

The 1:1 isolation transformer should meet the following requirements:

1. The isolation transformer must use double coils, and the secondary must not be grounded

2. The primary test should be protected by a fuse, and the primary and secondary grounding terminals should be closed or shielded

3. The length of the primary lead should not exceed 3 meters, and there should be no joints. Three-core plastic sheathed flexible wires or tough rubber-covered wires should be used, and three-pin plugs should be installed to make the metal shell and iron core of the isolation transformer reliably grounded.

4. The secondary is equipped with a fixed two-eye socket. The lead wires of mobile electrical tools such as electric drills used in conjunction must be double-core plastic sheathed soft wires or tough rubber-covered wires, and equipped with special two-pin plugs. The lead wires should not have joints and should not be too long.
